Candied Pecans: A Sweet Treat That Makes the Perfect Food Fairy Gift

Every Food Fairy needs a signature homemade treat to share, and these Candied Pecans are one of my favorite gifts to make and deliver. They’re sweet, crunchy, warmly spiced, and packaged in a simple jar or cellophane bag, they instantly become a thoughtful homemade surprise for neighbors, friends, teachers, or anyone who could use a little extra kindness.
What I love most about this recipe is how versatile these pecans are beyond snacking. I use them on my spinach and strawberry salad, and they add the perfect sweet crunch alongside fresh berries and greens. They’re also delicious sprinkled over yogurt, oatmeal, ice cream, or added to a charcuterie board for a little sweet-and-savory balance.
Whether you’re making these for holiday gatherings, hostess gifts, teacher appreciation treats, or simply to keep on hand for your own kitchen, these candied pecans are always a hit. They store beautifully, travel well, and feel special without requiring a complicated recipe.

Ingredients
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
16 oz or 4 cups unsalted pecan halves
1 large egg white, beaten
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon water
Directions
Preheat oven to 300°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, beat egg white, vanilla, and water until stiff peaks form.
In a separate bowl, stir together granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Add pecans to the egg white mixture and toss to coat. Add the cinnamon sugar mixture and stir gently until pecans are evenly coated.
Spread pecans into a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 40–45 minutes, stirring halfway through baking time.
Remove from oven and allow pecans to cool completely on the baking sheet.
Store candied pecans in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for several weeks — perfect for gifting or keeping ready for salads and snacking.
